Since he began spinning minimal and house records at friends’ parties in 2014, Pressure Point, the Italian DJ-producer also known as D:fferent Place, has never really locked back. Shirking away from the limelight that many of his compatriots have pursued, he’s instead released a stream of quality EPs that stylishly blend the the two genres that kick-started his journey in music nearly two decades ago. Next up is Ghost on Tape, a four-track outing on Pluie/Noir—a label in Berlin, one of Pressure Point’s former homes. It follows a collaborative track with Christopher Ledger on DeWalta‘s Meander.
Recorded last last month in celebration of the upcoming EP, Pressure Point’s XLR8R podcast is full of the complex compositions and deep melodies he’s known for. Much like Telharmonic Texture, it shines on a light on Pressure Point’s favorite artists: you’ll hear music from Edward, Youandewan, and Thomas Melchior, any many more. Fortunately, these are also some of XLR8R‘s favorite voices, so we’re also a big fan. Press play for just over an hour of wonky, effortless minimal groove.
KHMGNFF worked on the soundtrack of VERTIGE, initially planned for the stage and choreographed as an immersive, sound-based production, VERTIGE was cancelled a few days before its premiere due to health restrictions in November 2020.
The collectif decided to transform this project using video while keeping the language of theatre and performance in order to find a new space through image.
After 9 months of hard work VERTIGE have finished the first part of the creation, i.e. the shooting of all the scenes of the project. This part was entirely self-produced.
They started a crowd funding to finance the second phase of work: Post-production.

WE R THE ALIENS’ run of futuristic house, minimal and electronica continues with its third release “Twisties/Lollypop EP” by Melbourne’s finest Just Jack and Katie Drover. The newest aliens deliver 6 magnificent cuts on a split EP, ranging from delicate minimal to wonky breakbeat floor fillers.
Resonet Music curator Jack Nelson kicks things off with “Twisties”, a heavy low-end minimal groove, pairing spacey synths with ethereal voices and nimble melodies. “Ergust Discovers Computer Music” ventures further from the opening track and is straight out of the bleepy, sci-fi minimal handbook. The EP’s highlight, “Poast Pfil” is a proper tease – with more upbeat and rapid tone, expressing varying degrees of enthusiasm for the possibility of intelligent life in the universe.
On the flip side Dokutoku mistress Katie Drover shows off incredible dystopian landscapes with enough subtle changes to make each track a journey in itself. From minimal, to electro, and drum & bass – Katie Drover dropped it all! The opening track “Lollypop” does a wonderful job of setting up the tone with a steady groove and a delicate touch, while “Make UP” is about as impressive and tonnes-heavy as you can get. A spiralling electro roller that rises and falls without any fuss. Last but not least “Paw Paw” lives up to its name. This fractured beat is a near-perfect five minute workout that jolts and sizzles.

“For Playful Manners” is a new label run by Raquel Rivera-Lys aka Adi from Colombia and Basic Moves head honcho Michiel Claus aka Walrus from Brussels.
Dreamt up spontaneously during a shared afternoon of listening to music in Berlin, the label’s manners centre on the feelings of friendship and fun in music, though its feet are always itching for the dancefloor and its various scenarios, while its head is turned firmly towards the future.
Crisp music is the message every time, with each split EP also thoughtfully balanced: male/female, machine/soul, robot/alien, flower/tree.
The artwork takes the form of a puzzle, which has to be solved to discover the tracks and their makers.

Rings of Neptune welcomes Atree, Katie Drover and Kino.
The three new additions to our roster are all based in Berlin, but are from three very distinct corners of the world: Germany, Australia and Uruguay. They also explore different corners of the electronic music spectrum, and possess equal measurements talent.
— Olli’s (atree) passion for music started with putting together mixed CDs for friends and himself when he was a teenager. His interest in vinyl and the surrounding culture started in 2003 after getting in touch with the reggae / dub scene these days. Olli started his solo project atree in 2013 and since then he released his music on Pluie/Noir, Arpège, Veniceberg, Shotgun and many others.
— Pleasure Zone, Carpet and Snares, Subsonic Music and her own Dokutoku Records, Katie Drover‘s catalog keeps growing. This mathematician turned international touring DJ has more than just 4/4 in her pocket as she flits between Australian and Europe in her quest for the perfect groove.
— Kino developed his sound being a DJ resident of Phonotheque in Montevideo, Uruguay, one of South America most respected nightclubs. Now since 2019, he relocated to Berlin. Passionate for searching music and generating atmospheres, his musical taste varies from techno to electro. Allied of the unexpected and the details, his presentations invite you to transit through different pathways.
