Chronicles of the 5 senses

Episode #1: Nies
—
“Matching Scents”

Her origins cross two entire continents. Her artistic vision blends mediums and our collective plays with genres and aesthetics. You got it right if you think that you can’t put Denise Gluck in a box. When we decided to start our chronicles, she was the first person we wanted to interview. She accepted immediately and supported us in this initiative. Bright, calm, and accurate are the adjectives popping up when thinking back to this moment we shared with her.

Denise is today the matriarch behind Rings of Neptune. In this podcast you will discover her through her plural identities: from her childhood in the countryside to the city girl she became.

We hope you will enjoy this encounter as much as we did!

Joe Delon’s Welt Discos returns with Lerosa EP

Lerosa

Kiss Me Again EP
[WLTD002]

Welt Discos, the label run by Joe Delon and distributed by Lisbon’s Carpet & Snares, is back with its second release, this time from the Dublin-based producer Lerosa. Boasting spectacular Drexciyan artwork by Costa Brava, the record is due for release in late April, and is available for pre-order on the label’s Bandcamp.

Lerosa is a musician through and through, producing across genres and always with his own distinctive studio sound shining through. Having gained a dedicated following ever since his 2004 debut on Dublin’s legendary D1 Recordings, he and Joe met each other when he played for the party Joe & friends organised at the Russian Bar in London in 2010. That party was called ‘Kiss Me Again’, hence the name for this EP.

All four tracks on the record were composed during summer 2020, the result of daily cat-assisted studio time at his home in Dublin. Lerosa has been posting clips of his studio sessions on his instagram, and it was from browsing those clips that Joe suggested a line-up for the EP. Several of Lerosa’s musical influences – I.M.S., Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, James Stinson – can be heard across these four diverse tracks, as he jumps nimbly from italo to dub to house to electro.

Happily, for those who missed out last time, the release arrives at the same time as a repress of And.rea’s Coco Bongo Club EP.

Break The Glass: Kit II

In Case of Emergency

Personalised mental health tools from the Rings of Neptune staff & artists

Tool Kit II: Luc Ringeisen

“In 2020, authorities and a part of society classified music and culture in general as “non-essential.” Paradoxically, the COVID-19 pandemic itself and the successive lockdowns imposed by each country have proven how crucial music is for most of us, our well-being, and overall inner peace — especially during these severe trials and extended periods of isolation.

Turn off your television and listen to the first trumpet notes of a Miles Davis album or the first syllables of Sade, and chances are your soul is instantly healed. In such moments we are also inspired, reformatted; because ultimately, we are what we listen to.

Let me share with you a bit of what’s going on in my lockdown playlists these days. Good listening, let’s be patient and keep the faith.” Luc

Chronicles Of The 5 Senses – Kōrero

“The Chronicles of the 5 senses”

March 2020, we (artists, makers, creators, curators) are facing a major crisis in our work.
From now on, we will share our projects, experimentations, researches, productions only through a screen.
On the occasion of the launch of the Rings of Neptune
website, we wanted to share with you another vision of our artists and team.
What is making us human?
Our have five senses – sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell are defining us as person…
How the smell of the madeleine become the madeleine of Proust?
We want to question and bring the sensitive closer to you.
Not totally a quiz but not totally an Interview, the chronicle of the 5 senses, a modest concept where artists are invited to share what is making them who they are.

Eternal Poet VA – Shōen

Shōen

"Eternal Poet VA"
[MBR002]

The new V.A. on Misbits Recordings, suitably titled “Eternal Poet,” is the label’s second excursion through the sound-art and experimental ambient realms. Familiar guests Boris Hagenbart and David Moss return for another otherworldly sonic transmission of visceral, syncopated samples, followed by Japanese duo Ohanami in an emotionally charged post-jazz exercise drenched in peaceful nostalgia. The flip-side features ten locked-grooves signed by Ohanami, Shoen, Shcaa, Smooth Operators, and REV, capturing diverse musical moments with transformative potential. The artwork is yet another puzzle piece of this utopian, peculiar ecosystem envisioned by Glitch Shop.

“Second excursion through the sound-art and experimental ambient realms. “

“Eternal Poet” further expands the vision that ambient music can be a mode of transport rather than a simple backdrop — a sophisticated world of endless possibilities.”
