Over the past few years, Rubi has left her mark in the electronic music scene with a uniquely recognizable sound. An avid digger known for her diverse record collection, Rubi is a versatile artist who fearlessly navigates through various musical genres in her sets.

Since 2020, Rubi has been based in Berlin and joined Rings of Neptune in the first batch of artists. Her performances range from ambient and downtempo sets at venues like Club der Visionäre, Plantasia and Dimensions Festival to peak-hour performances at clubs like Tresor, Hoppetosse, and KitKat Club.

Together with Cleymoore and Nies, she curates Rings of Neptune’s own Feedback Waves, a reissue label to give standout releases from the past their first appearance on vinyl. Renowned as a connoisseur of underground and forgotten music, Rubi’s passion for uncovering hidden gems is also showcased on her YouTube channel, a platform she uses to share her curiosity for musical exploration. 

On Refuge Worldwide she co-hosts the monthly show ‘Musical Autobiographies’, inviting fellow artists to share their life stories through ten tracks which influenced their journey. Together with Ben Flock, one of her co-hosts, she’s also producing music under their joint moniker Flubi Doo, with their first EP coming out soon.


Having co-founded the Barcelona event series Kommuna and the vinyl-only label Kommuna Tapes in 2015, Rubi has been showcasing and releasing some of the most celebrated artists of the scene for nearly a decade. In 2018, Rubi ventured to Asia in search of new creative avenues and established Out Of Sight  as a groundbreaking event series in Yangon, Myanmar. By curating a unique community centered around underground electronic music on vinyl, her efforts transformed the local scene as the only monthly event hosting international artists.


Irrespective of location or time, Rubi’s sets are a testament to her dedication to stand out from the ordinary through ever-evolving rhythms, unconventional drum patterns, and immersive melodic elements, offering audiences a captivating journey through the uncharted territories of electronic music.

Fine-tuning frequencies slightly above murky dancefloors and discovering new soundscapes for the inquisitive ear, Tine Vrabič a.k.a. Nitz has slowly and steadily become a household name of Slovenian electronic music. Machine generated and supplemented with field recordings, his signature sound is fundamentally drawn from the finest ambient dub techno heritage. However, it is nobly fermenting, or rather relentlessly unfolding over the past years as a unique story, traversing micro house, electro and IDM, interchanging elements of suspense, melancholy and quirky dadaism along the way.

As a member of the long-standing Slovenian collective for promoting electronic music and culture called Synaptic, Nitz has spent the last decade making music, performing and realising concerts, club nights, and other special gatherings, such as his most recent string of live machine-jam sessions for select audiences called AmbientSoup, intended to spread and present ambient music and related culture. 

The legendary Slovenian alternative venue Klub k4 has always been an important node in the musical network of Nitz. From humble beginnings as a promoter, to playing music there since 2009 as a resident DJ, he is now a veteran in this craft, seamlessly merging old and new music across a plethora of genres. Taking up the position of program manager in 2015, he has expanded his influence further and achieved new means for materialising his vision of electronic music and club culture, meanwhile contributing greatly to the scene by providing opportunity for fresh and established musical talent.

ISH, also known as Kind Des Geistes, is a Swiss-Tunisian DJ, producer, live performer, and New Media artist based in Berlin. He is signed to labels such as Libertine Records, Small Moves, System Error, Griffé, and Partisan, among others, showcasing his unclassifiable and ever-evolving artistic style.

Ismael Zouaoui spends his days crafting intricate electronic music in his Berlin studio. His creative process involves incorporating complex drum patterns, diverse sampling techniques, and multiple layers and textures. Exploring sounds and ideas from different eras, his music is characterized by its contemporary, playful, distorted, 3-dimensional, fat, and clean qualities. In 2023, he released multiple works on labels such as Libertine Records, Small Moves, and Nashville House Syndicate.

Ismael’s DJ sets are influenced by electronic music from the 80’s, 90’s, and early 00’s, as well as by the contemporary work of his friends. In his DJ sets as well as in his live sets as ISH, audiences can expect the unexpected, depending on when and where he’s playing: his sets range from floating ambient to up-tempo rave sounds.

In addition to his DJ and production ventures, Ismael, under the alias “Kind des Geistes,” performs live and presents A/V live shows. This particular project revolves around brainwaves, where the music is played live by his brain, and the visuals are based on the visualization of the brainwaves.

Over the past two decades, Luna Ludmila (Utrecht, NL) has been developing her sound as a DJ and producer. Dub-inspired grooves, old dusty house records and rhythmic tribal tools are all carefully combined to create a hypnotic trip with the crowd.

Over the years, she has played at the most established clubs and promoters in her country like; VBX, Breakfast Club, Is Burning, Lofi and De School, internationally she played at Tresor, Renate, Club der Visionaere. She played her very first club live set at Bassiani in 2023, following Paradiso, BRET, Radio Radio, WAS and this summer at CDV and Breakfast Club, to name a few.

Playing for people is one of her favorite things to do, but she spends most of her time in her studio, making music. With a huge fascination for layering sounds and experimenting with complex rhythms, she released her music on labels such as on SoHaSo, Irenic, Berg Audio, and Stately, with more releases on the way.

Lisbon is Portugal’s coastal capital, and former sunny home to the now Berlin-based audio-visual artist Bruno Santos, aka Cleymoore. You might of thought all the bright skies and vitamin D would be trickling into Bruno’s work, but that wouldn’t be entirely true. 

Father of the ever-growing artist collective and record-label Pluie/Noir, an imprint focused on audio-visual collaborations under his artistic curation, Cleymoore has a very peculiar vision about music and how it should be experienced. Over the last 9 years Pluie/Noir released over 90 audio-visual podcasts, 3 cassettes and 16 vinyl-only releases that showcase world-wide talents from young names such as Vlad Caia, Diogo or Atree, to veterans by the likes of Petre Inspirescu or Fumiya Tanaka. 

Cleymoore’s behavior behind the decks and his own musical material does indeed contain a smidge of the feel good stuff, except its wedged between micro housey madness, dynamic experimentalism and mind meddling rhythmic arrangements, and this might well be the result of his daily submersion in the worlds of audio-visual arts. Mind house, perhaps? With a steadily growing catalog of vinyl releases and upcoming EPs on his own imprints Pluie/Noir and Rings of Neptune, as well as other record-labels he respects and admires, his career is moving towards a very promising future. 

In between music making and graphic designing, he’s been actively dj’ing around the globe performing in clubs & festivals such as Concrete, Rex, Air Tokyo, Club der Visionaere, Closer, Waha Festival or Piknic Electronik, to name a few.

Originally planned as the first part of a 3xLP album, ‘Kepler 66 Hotline’ is a collection of tracks deeply inspired by 90’s sci-fi infected Detroit electro, drenched in deep mellow tones, weird outer-worldly timbres and sharp drum-arrangements.

According to its creators:

“This post-apocalyptic journey is set in 2046 A.D. far out on the Kepler 66 Planet, where The Douglas Brothers (Alchemists of Sound) have now set up their inter-dimensional sonic fortress. Due to complications on Earth and a third world war breaking out, Earth’s population was forced to migrate to unknown territories. Those with pride choose to stay, while others took off to finally create their Utopias on alternate dimensions.

Debut release by II/III – “It Could Be Paradise”

The combination of restrained club electronics with expressive classical instruments in the creation of ambient music is most often presented as a kind of hybrid or crossover. Hybrid music has the power to draw listeners from both opposite poles while offering something more.

Two out of Three or II/III have long outgrown the genre boundaries of their musical instruments, so don’t be fooled by the name. There is no duality in their music, because their independent projects already force indefinite impressions and feelings into the music. Under the pseudonym rouge-ah, Urška Preis squeezed quintessence out of the harp, discarding a good deal of classical melody and rhythm for the sake of mystical echoing synthetic twitches. Tine Vrabič or Nitz tried to ground similar cosmic sounds with a dance rhythm and a pinch of melody. Thus, the duo moved from duality to unity, and the EP released by AmbientSoup reflects this perfectly.

“It Could Be Paradise” consists of four long tracks that are supposed to imprint on us the sediments of everything that makes it not a paradise. Each member of the duo relies on their personal motives and it is clear that project II/III is not premature, and has been developing into a behemoth of the Slovenian ambient scene.

 

Their mastery is reflected mainly in the skilful use of patterns and the resolution of individual sounds, which are always diverse, whether it is a selection of samples or skilful playfulness with strings. The atmosphere from the first song onwards is strained by the ominous buzzing that accompanies the performance, but then this slowly outgrows the melody and takes the loading of patterns even deeper. The listener, therefore, cannot refrain from anxiously waiting for something to strike in any sound form, and thus allowing him to take with him after listening a piece of the world formed by the duo. The third song “Mores” fulfills our expectation with the introduction of a strong rhythm, and the reins are taken over by Nitz. With moaning vocal clippings, the album is then brought into place, and rouge-ah backs it up with torn strokes charged with distortion that resonate until it is finally suddenly cut.

II/III’s dramatic exploration of dark electroacoustic soundscapes
was premiered live at MENT 2020 in Ljubljana.
 

The album concludes with “Bad Blood” , which shatters the carefreeness of the journey in the most audibly illustrative way. It sounds like an impregnation of situational claustrophobia, yet its tension and drama keep the curiosity within us and encourage us to get to the end. The album is just under 30 minutes long, making it possible to condense the album into a single, timeless, listening moment.

The crystallization of these musical qualities introduces a much-needed contrast between calm melancholy and turbulent tension into one album. In “It Could Be Paradise” we are witnessing the sophisticated electro-acoustics of space and time, where the lines between individual consonances are erased, so that the listener can feel the density and power each composition, as if it were a multi-instrumental orchestration.
