ARTIST BIO

One of those artists that seems to be skilled on all surfaces, Marie K tells her musical story in a highly personal way, to great effect.
Her DJ sets emit a playful and daring energy that ranges from cheeky forgotten finds to modern South-American influences, always with great attention to detail in the way she builds up a set, and listens to the audience’s energy. It comes as no surprise Marie K sees dancing as a therapeutic tool for the soul.

Being classically schooled, she shook the world with her live debut at Draaimolen 2022, and continues to deliver deeply emotional, dark, yet hopeful journeys through her hardware only performance. Marie’s first productions are to be released on vinyl later this year through well regarded labels such as Nous’Klaer Audio with more in the works.

Orbit Of Ecstasy

Orbit Of Ecstasy

ARTIST BIO

By letting presence and place determine art, Orbit of ecstasy explores an unique awareness culture to its full extent. It is a platform to raise humanity, including the unexpected, the rejected, the ignored, and the failure- in short: working for peace and envision a better world through the freedom of speech, where the arts interact active and independently. Orbit of ecstasy has found its sonic identity by opening up this visionary power to its present. Classical pieces by Bach or Skrjabin can open a door to ecstasy, creating knowledge in the moment.

It can touch the inherent wisdom, the common ground which has been paved the way through: Nikola Tesla (Researcher- founder of the Orgon energy), Agnes Martin (paint- er – mirroring cosmic realities with Color, size, intensity and numbers), Karin v.Maur (Author of „Klang der Bilder“), Zip and Sammy Dee (including humor and relentless smile in electronic music). Accepting spirituality as preform of a fearless state of mind is highly individual and can only be answered by presenting each protagonist independently: Florian Haik Schirmacher (Piano, Electronic) collaborated rst with Pantytec (Zip and Sammy Dee) in the electronic art world. Coming from a percussive band, „Drum Spirit“, he debuted as a singer, which was accompanied by Soulcapsule (Baby Ford and Thomas Melchior) and Larry Heard, who both remixed his rst tracks.

He Co- founded Bands like Wareika, Hatikvah, Here Today, Prime Origin and Federleicht to point out a different sense of community. Especially with his label FormResonance, as a platform for electronic research. Keeping the omnidirectional spirit can’t be more acknowledged by knowing that Florian Haik Schirmacher studied classical music, Theology and got a philosophical degree based on Kierkegaard’s understanding of Freedom – teaching yoga in prison and following the line of Kriya yoga since more than twenty years. As a main influence, he points out: Giorgio Morandi, Agnes Martin, Tikiman and Skrjabin. He lives in a communal space in Esterholz, Germany.

Orbit of ecstasy includes mistakes, failures, humor and accepts spiritual apprentice- ship to bridge Integrity and Identity fractions to gain an omnidirectional intuitive listening. To foster a culture of consent / safe space.

II/III

ARTIST BIO

II/III (Two Out Of Three) is an electro-acoustic dark ambiental duo, featuring harpist rouge-ah (Urška Preis) and producer Nitz (Tine Vrabič). They have paved a relatively desolate field of the aforementioned genre in their native Slovenia and opened up a space for a new generation of regional sound makers. In their music, they interweave processed field recordings with effected electric harp sounds, create impactful beats out of self-made/recorded samples and altogether make you wonder about the origin of their imaginative sounds. Likewise, their live performances take you on phantasmal road trips all the way from spacious, unworldly drones, through luminous arpeggios and glissandos, to tense synth pads. Their cosmic performances have been labeled theatrical with a reason – to tell a wholesome story with precise dramaturgy is this duo’s ultimate goal.

With Urška bringing in years of classical education, followed by numerous author projects, collaborations, and band activities, and Tine being a pillar of the local electronic music scene, they merge their decade-long friendship into a mind-bending musical experience. They have proven it time and again through their critically-acclaimed debut EP It could be paradise and performing at ultimately all notable venues and festivals and various events at autonomous spaces of their home country.

II/III is currently exploring materials for their upcoming album debut, with topics such as the fragility of memories, interpretations as interventions, and duality of loud- and quietness.

PLUIES

Artist bio

The PLUIES project by Belgian-Hungarian artist Pauline Mikó is a sound and performative
project that aims to strengthen the relationship between plants, nature and the human being. Through a system of sensors and electrodes connected to the leaves of the plants and the body of the artist, the bio-electric exchange set up is transformed into sound, thanks to a modular synthesizer. The sound waves are then modulated to produce music, both for the ears of the spectators but also for the plants themselves. This system of electrodes, created by the artist, allows the expression of the energies of 11 different plants simultaneously.

By mixing nature and technology, Pauline Mikó offers us an original and sensory experience. The artist tries to give back a legitimate place to plants in our urban lives. By enhancing our connection to our environment, the idea is to become aware of its fragility and the importance of respecting it. The main intention of the artist is to put life back in the center of our communities and allowing a dialogue with Nature.

Nies is the creative alias of Denise Pakes, the founder of the Rotate imprint and co-founder of the Rings of Neptune agency & kōrero. Originally from the Netherlands, Denise can be found juggling between Paris and Berlin, engaged continuously in musical exploration, audio-visual collaborations with like-minded artists, and organizing events with cultural activation in mind.

After studying ‘Image & Sound’ at the Art Academy & Conservatory of The Hague, Denise became increasingly interested in the ever-expanding audio-visual universe and its peculiarities. Persistently curious and relentlessly passionate in video, photography, and music, she found the natural outlets for her artistic expression, which led her to create her label and agency, explore the art of DJing, and produce both video and music. She just finished a master’s study at INA GRM in Paris.

Since falling in love with synthesizers a few years ago, music creation is now one of her main creative outputs and an infinite source of inspiration and joy. Warm soundscapes, strange textures, subtle atmospheres, and broad bass lines — her musical intentions either as a DJ or as a music producer are clear: to excite the listeners through an excellent curation of tracks, flowing organically, stretching time and bending space in pure harmony.

Peter F. Spiess

Artist bio

Peter F. Spiess is no new comer, especially to those akin to a type of ultra minimized dance music explored between the late 90’s and the early 00’s. Peter’s one of those artists blessed with an unparalleled ability to abstract and simplify dance music down to its purest elements: sonic bare-bones, both rich and impactful.

Peter F. Spiess is classically trained since the age of 6. His first attempts on electronic music programming blossomed in 1987 on the Commodoer-64 with it’s furious SID Chip. This time left a strong appreciation of analogue Sound Synthesis which lasts up to today. He bought his first Synthesizer in 1991 doing all the sequencing on an Atari STe. Years of experimental and amateur music- making passed which lead into the developement of an own musicial idea, strongly influenced by minimal style electronic music.

His releases date back to the mid 90s, on imprints packed with a unique guild of producers of strong sound signatures, all close or even under the Ongaku umbrella: Frankfurt’s legendary label for electronic music with class, home of both Playhouse and Klang Elektronik, the latter being one of Peter’s main output channels, along with Alpha, Contexterior or Adjunt.

Due to the unique combination of minimal techno, house, jazz, noise and splashes of electro, his early releases are still integral part of many dj’s record bags. Crystal Polymorphs, the artist’s only album over the last 20 years, is a bold collection of memorable electronic music cuts that achieved a low-key cult-status between diggers and djs alike from all around the globe.

His live sets are wild and groovy journeys through a world full of unexpected sounds that never seize to move the dancing crowd. They consists or rearranged tracks of his back catalogue being remixed and edited live in ever evolving ways. In between strange dream capes of atmospheric sound, various kinds of sonic mayhem is carefully laid out as the rhythmic foundation to your dancing pleasure. Expect to hear his music always in new and crazy ways.

Fine-tuning frequencies slightly above murky dancefloors and discovering new soundscapes for the inquisitive ear, Tine Vrabič a.k.a. Nitz has slowly and steadily become a household name of Slovenian electronic music. Machine generated and supplemented with field recordings, his signature sound is fundamentally drawn from the finest ambient dub techno heritage. However, it is nobly fermenting, or rather relentlessly unfolding over the past years as a unique story, traversing micro house, electro and IDM, interchanging elements of suspense, melancholy and quirky dadaism along the way.

As a member of the long-standing Slovenian collective for promoting electronic music and culture called Synaptic, Nitz has spent the last decade making music, performing and realising concerts, club nights, and other special gatherings, such as his most recent string of live machine-jam sessions for select audiences called AmbientSoup, intended to spread and present ambient music and related culture.

The legendary Slovenian alternative venue Klub k4 has always been an important node in the musical network of Nitz. From humble beginnings as a promoter, to playing music there since 2009 as a resident DJ, he is now a veteran in this craft, seamlessly merging old and new music across a plethora of genres. Taking up the position of program manager in 2015, he has expanded his influence further and achieved new means for materialising his vision of electronic music and club culture, meanwhile contributing greatly to the scene by providing opportunity for fresh and established musical talent.
